102mm, a short crank:
Such short cranks are used on small 16 and/or 18 inch unicycles. They can also be found on 20 inch Freestyle unicycles used by experienced unicyclists. They allow you to pick up speed quickly and obtain a fluidity of pedaling. Experienced unicyclists will sometimes even go for even shorter cranks.
Help with assembling your cranks:
We've put together a little manual for you! The document is downloadable with advice and information for screwing your pedals on your unicycle:
Download Document Cranks / PedalsInformation to remember when setting up your cranks: if you mount them upside down, you will damage the threads of the cranks and the pedals will unscrew themselves while riding. Make sure the crank marked R is on the right and the L is on the left!
Square crank, type of use:
A crank with a square shape is suitable for strolling. They are suitable for occasional use. These are usually the cranks on beginner/family unicycles. In circus schools, they are also found on multipurpose unicycles such as Luxus / Only One. Be careful though, they are not suitable if you perform jumps with your unicycle. You will need to check the tightness of these from time to time. At the slightest jiggle, stop using the unicycle to tighten your cranks. If you practice with a loose crank it will quickly wear out and you will need to replace it.
Changing a crank:
To change a square crank, you will need a crank extractor because it is forced into the axis of the unicycle.
