127mm, to go fast:
127mm cranks of this shape are typically used on 20 inch unicycles intended for flat / trial use. They will allow you to be stable, to have power and to be able to stop quickly. On the other hand, for flat / trial we will not use this type of square cranks which are unsuitable for making jumps. With these square cranks, the interest will be, on a 26-inch unicycle for example, to hit the road. A long crank allows more power to pass over obstacles or to ride on a sloping ground. On more high-end unicycles, this type of square cranks will rarely be used, but more ISIS type cranks. And often on road unicycles, there are two different holes for the pedals so you can use long or short cranks depending on your mood.
Help with assembling your cranks:
We have put together a little manual for you! The document is downloadable with advice and information on how to screw your pedals onto your unicycle:
Download document Cranks / PedalsInformation to bear in mind when fitting in your cranks: if you put them on the wrong side, you will damage the thread of the cranks and the pedals will unscrew while you're using the unicycle. Make sure that the crank marked R is on the right and that the L is on the left!
What kind of use?
A square crank is suitable for strolling. They will be suitable for occasional use. These are usually the cranks on beginner, family unicycles. In circus school, they are also found on versatile Luxus / Only One unicycles. Be careful, however, they are not suitable if you do jumps with your unicycle. From time to time, you will need to check the tightness of these. At the slightest jiggle, stop using the unicycle to tighten your cranks. If you practice with a loose crank, it will quickly deteriorate and you will need to replace it.
How to change a unicycle crank?
To change a unicycle crank, you will need to equip yourself with a crank puller. You will find them on our website in the tools category. You will also need a 15 mm spanner to tighten your pedals on your cranks.
