Quax 89mm steel cranks:

Standard cranks for square axis. Item sold in pairs.

Technical characteristics:

  • System: square axis.
  • Material: steel.
  • Colour: chrome.
  • Length: 89mm.
  • Weight of a crank: 275 g.
  • Packaging: in pairs.

89mm = a short crank:

A smaller crank allows you to go fast. On the other hand, you will have to force more uphill and downhill. If you are out of balance, it will be harder to get back on track with short cranks like these.

Such short cranks are used on small 12 inch unicycles. They can also be found on 20 inch Freestyle unicycles used by experienced riders. They allow you to gain speed quickly and obtain a fluid pedaling.

Help with assembling your cranks:

We have put together a little manual for you! The document is downloadable with advice and information on how to screw your pedals onto your unicycle:

Download Document Cranks / Pedals

Information to bear in mind when fitting your cranks: if you fit them the wrong way, you will damage the thread of the cranks and the pedals will unscrew while you're riding. Make sure the crank marked R is on the right and the L is on the left!

When to use a square crank?

A square crank is suitable for strolling / riding. They will be suitable for occasional use. These are usually the cranks on beginner, family unicycles. In circus schools, they are also found on versatile Luxus / Only One unicycles. Be careful, however, they are not suitable if you do jumps with your unicycle. From time to time you will need to check the tightness of these. At the slightest jiggle, stop using the unicycle to tighten your cranks. If you practice with a loose crank it will quickly deteriorate and you will need to replace it.

Change a crank:

To change a square crank, you will need a crank extractor because it is forced into the axis of the unicycle.

Do not hesitate to contact us directly if you have any questions regarding your unicycle(s).
