What does a compatible square axis look like?

This crank model is compatible with a unicycle equipped with a square axis. A square axis looks like the one in the photo below.

89mm, a short crank:

A smaller crank allows you to go fast. In return, you will have to force more uphill and downhill. If you are out of balance, it will be less easy to get back to your feet with short cranks like these.

Such short cranks are used on small 12 inch unicycles. They can also be found on 20 inch Freestyle unicycles used by experienced riders. They allow you to gain speed quickly and obtain a fluid pedaling.

Information to remember when fitting your cranks: if you fit them the wrong way, you will damage the thread of the cranks and the pedals will unscrew while you're riding. Make sure that the crank marked R is on the right and that the L is on the left!

Type of use of the square crank:

A square crank is suitable for strolling. They will be suitable for occasional use. These are usually the cranks on beginner, family unicycles. In circus schools, they are also found on multipurpose Luxus / Only One unicycles. Be careful, however, they are not suitable if you do jumps with your unicycle. From time to time you will need to check the tightness of these. At the slightest jiggle, stop using the unicycle to tighten your cranks. If you practice with a loose crank it will quickly deteriorate and you will need to replace it.

Change the crank:

To change a square crank, you will need to be equipped with a crank extractor because it is forcefully pressed on the axis of the unicycle.
