Aerial hoop:

The simplicity of the installation of the aerial hoops makes them a popular circus apparatus. The model presented here is versatile thanks to the different types of hooks possible. It can be set up attached to the end of a rope. It can also be used with a swivel to allow a 360 ° rotation or used while swinging with a grip on each side.

Which aerial hoop diameter to choose?

The diameter of your aerial hoop is chosen according to your size. When you are sitting on the hoop, there should be 10cm free above your head. You can take this measurement while sitting on a chair (ex: height between the chair and your head = 70cm, then you will need an aerial hoop with an inside diameter of 80cm). If you are buying for a circus school where several people are going to use the same hoop, this space may vary slightly and extend up to 15cm.

With this method, you will be sure not to hit your head on the top of the hoop when you are in a sitting position. If you have a few studentss with different heights, be sure to check that they can't bang their heads on the hoop before you start :-).

Adhesive tape coating:

The hoop is delivered ready to be covered with fabric grip. We recommend the Prodigy Snake Tape. This grip has the particularity of not putting glue residue on the hands and body, even after an intensive use of the hoop.

Fixing system:

The hoop is sold by itself. You will need to purchase the fixing shackles for aerial hoop separately. Using only one fixing for a static use, and / or using 2 fixings for a swinging use. The structure has 3 holes (visible in the photos), depending on your assembly, the gap will be either of 50cm or 55cm. We have put some pictures of fixing examples.

If you are using a single hook, the hoop may rotate slightly on itself (even if you are not using a swivel). To overcome this, fix it at two points.

What are the conditions for installing an aerial hoop?

You need some height:

To install a hoop, you will need a ceiling height of at least 4 meters. The hoop will not necessarily be 4 meters high, but you need height above and below the hoop. Any installation with a height of less than 4 meters will give you frustration and very limited use of the apparatus. Imagine hanging from the hoop, you need a lot of space below it. Now imagine yourself standing on the bottom of the hoop, you also need space above you. With a swinging movement with the hoop, you will need even more space. Without the necessary space, you will end up with a hoop that will have a role similar to that of a swing.

Dynamic vs static:

Remember that a moving body can weigh up to 3 times the mass of a static body. When you are on an aerial hoop, you are a moving body. A binding that will withstand your mass when stationary (static) will not be sufficient.

Installing a hoop at home, as a private individual:

Your life or that of your child will depend on how well the hoop is fixed. Do not neglect its installation.

An aerial hoop installation cannot be improvised. Consult a rigging specialist or an architect, or consult the opinion of a mason. During our discussions with some beginner customers, we are told about using fixing plates for punching bags. They are made to withstand 30 to 50 Kg. The mass of a moving (dynamic) person can be up to 3 times its mass in a static position. Never use this type of plate, the accident will be guaranteed. Each building has its own different structure with its own strengths and materials. One of the best solutions that requires the least technique is to use a truck loop around a large beam. Again, consult the advice of a specialist.
