      Re: manufacturing

Like many textile products sold under the NetJuggler brand, this cover is made in Pakistan. We are currently setting up the manufacturing of circus and juggling equipment here in France at NetJuggler in Limousin. We have been working on this project since the end of 2019 to offer alternatives to the products we manufacture in Pakistan or in other countries outside the EU. Indeed, shipping products around the world doesn't really make sense. Initially, we'll offer some alternative products made here and see how we can eventually completely replace some of these products. But it's not that easy to set up, we are a small family business with 4 people at the time I am writing this message and the logistics to produce here in France at a competitive price are not that simple: labor, infrastructure, all of this requires resources but also to be smart to reduce costs to become competitive. This same bag at 3 times the price where we currently offer it will not sell and will not be a viable alternative. We must not forget that the price of a product includes: raw materials, labor, transport, taxes, VAT, storage costs, costs related to the operation of the company, marketing costs, advertising costs, infrastructure costs, costs related to our website. Our items are also offered for resale to other stores and must therefore also be able to contribute to their margins which also allows them to cover their operating costs. This is a hotly debated topic here :-), and so far we've explored many possibilities without having perfect solutions. Some of our local production projects have worked well, but 80% of what we produce locally goes to the USA by plane, so again it's inconsistent! And the majority of the projects we've tried behind the scenes haven't come to fruition. Either for logistical reasons or simply because no one wants to produce such small quantities here in France. There's also the case where we no longer have the know-how or the machines (I'm not just talking about textiles). We have a second warehouse that we're currently setting up with the aim of producing locally. It's too early to talk about it publicly, we don't know if it'll work, but we'll try! We also have to face the fact that between a locally manufactured product sold on our site and a cheaper equivalent produced on the other side of the planet, our customers choose the cheaper product in 95% of cases, and we can see that very clearly. Behind a screen, even people who say they want to consume locally don't do so when we give them the opportunity to do so because of the price. As a customer, every purchase of these locally made products will be proof to us that we can make some changes and that it is possible to move in the right direction. Finally, the irony in all this is that the warehouse we're setting up is partly financed by some of what we sell being imported. Margins on locally manufactured products are much smaller and wouldn't allow for this type of development. If you have any ideas that can push us in the right direction, any solutions, or simply want to talk to us about it, we would be happy to welcome you on site or by phone. Very good question from you, I hope I was able to clarify things a little and if we have to discuss it here or elsewhere, my answers will be transparent :-)
