Learn how to make aerial fabric in video:
The basics of aerial fabric presented by the Compagnie Mine de Rien

Aerial fabric information:
The French Federation of Circus Schools recommends changing your aerial fabric every 3 years and gives a maximum duration of use of 300 hours . Some circus schools change them more regularly.
Fabric bell:
To fix your fabric in the air, a round structure serving as a support (tubular here) is essential ( sold separately ). We use this round-shaped section so as not to impose any angle constraints. Indeed with the tension if you fix your fabric on a structure which does not have this shape the fabric could suffer premature wear up to breakage.
NetJuggler's opinion on the Play aerial fabric:
Made in Italy, this fabric is offered by Play. It is part of the Circus Division range. We appreciate the sober and elegant colors chosen by Play. Why did we choose this model rather than another? This fabric clings more than fabrics from other manufacturers that we have tested, it is also thicker. We have excellent feedback from the circus schools that we supply and who tell us that the thickness and grip of this fabric makes it easier to climb on this model, which has an impact on beginner use but also on professional use because it becomes possible to perform more figures with much less fatigue.

A thicker fabric that hangs:
The fact that the fabric is thick makes it less painful when you hold the fabric. The hands close less on themselves but rather on a good handful of fabric.
- Easier to mount to fabric.
- Allows you to look better with less fatigue.
- Our fabric does not slip, this means you will no longer need to use rosin unless you are very experienced on very specific figures.
Use of rosin:
For aerial silk practice, many people work using rosin or other equivalents. Rosin is a powder or pine resin used on the hands and sometimes (more rarely) the feet to improve the grip between the artist and the fabric, it allows a firm grip even with wet hands. (the magnesia is used hand to hand, the rosin between the artist and the apparatus). Our fabrics hang well enough that we don't need to use rosin. Only certain high level artists will continue to use it with our fabrics on very technical figures.
Technical characteristics :
- Fabric width: 1m55.
- Type of knot to attach it to a fabric bell: capstan knot.
- Fabric lifespan: 3 years / 300 hours. Guaranteed follow-up by NetJuggler for 1 year.
- 200gr/m².
- Popularization of the resistance of the fabric: 1500kg used in single strip. Used in aerial, the fabric is doubled which doubles its resistance, increasing it from 1500Kg to around 3000Kg.
- Elasticity: elastic but not too much! Just right.
- Material: 100% polyester.
- The fabric has a label with indications that certify the fabric for use in a professional environment. This label will be hidden by the fabric bell during use and will in no way interfere with the use of the aerial fabric.
Data information on the certificate:
The certificate announces the resistance of our fabrics. You should know that coloring pigments have an influence on the resistance of the fabric. All the colors we offer have been tested. The resistance data announced are the minimum.
For what type of practice?
- Intended for use by all types of practitioners: beginners and professionals.
- Audience: children and adults.
- Recommended for circus initiation workshops: robust and reliable equipment.
What length of aerial fabric to buy?
The length of the fabric will depend on the height at which you plan to attach your fabric. If you are a beginner, NetJuggler advises you to start with a hang at around 3 meters, which will already give you the possibility of performing many tricks.
If you already have a good level, you know where I'm going with this, but for those of you who are starting out, as your level increases you will start to hear about drops and want to make them. We generally work at a height of around 7 meters.
It's up to you to choose the length to which you wish to evolve. Allow twice the floor/ceiling length and add 2 meters of slack for the knots.
Information about the manufacturer Play Juggling:
Play Juggling manufactures this item in Italy . Play items are renowned for being of good quality, with particular care given to the finishes. Among their range of products we find initiation equipment but also renowned equipment used by entertainment professionals.
Sheets from the French Federation of Circus Schools:
You will find a certain number of documents to guide you in setting up your circus structure project on the website of the French Federation of Circus Schools: documentation and fact sheets .
Aerial fabric safety:
Two important points for safety with an aerial fabric: the hook and the landing mattress or fall mattress.
Concerning the hooks, have your installation done or checked by an approved organization (design office). Whether you are in a professional environment or at home, the safety of people who will find themselves on the aerial fabric depends on this grip.
The FFEC French Federation of Circus Schools recommends setting up aerial silks at a height of 6m50 for performance professionals.
They recommend the use of a fall mattress at least 2 meters by 2 meters by 40 centimeters thick.
For use in class, with children or beginners, NetJuggler advises you to limit the height of use of your fabric.
At a working height of less than 1m50, we recommend that you use a mattress with a minimum thickness of 10cm and dimensions of at least 1m50 x 1m50.
For a working height between 1m50 and 2m50: use a landing mattress or fall mattress at least 20cm thick with dimensions of at least: 2mx2m.
Do not take the safety of practitioners lightly. For your lessons, limit the height to which your students can climb. Never practice alone!
Elasticity of aerial fabric in percentage:
We are often asked what the percentage elasticity of our aerial fabric is. Some aerial fabric sellers specify this. You should know that this data cannot exist, since the stretching of the fabric in percentage with a body moving on it will depend on the mass of the person, the fall of the person, the length of the fabric , swinging and all this will be different at every moment "T". It is therefore not possible to speak of the elasticity of the fabric in percentage. This is false data which can only mislead. On the European market there are only 2 or 3 manufacturers to our knowledge who have designed a fabric specifically for use as an aerial fabric. Ours is one of them, and it was several years in prototyping before arriving at this elasticity result.
How to wash your aerial fabric?
To wash the fabric, you can put it in your washing machine. A cold wash will be perfect, no more than 30°. This is a 100% polyester fabric, so you can also use soap in your machine. We do not recommend using too much soap; an organic soap without aggressive products would be better, especially if you have to wash it from time to time. Avoid too frequent washing.
Fabric wear information:
How does aerial fabric wear? A new airy fabric is slightly more elastic than a fabric that has been used for several months. So when you recommend a new air fabric, after a year for example, to replace that of your school, it is normal that a new fabric seems more elastic to you.
Aerial fabrics in the professional environment: regulations on infugation
Our aerial fabrics are not fireproofed, because current regulations do not require fireproofing for circus apparatus used in a professional environment. Indeed, unlike stage decorations, for which performance halls generally require a fireproof treatment in order to prevent the risk of fire, equipment such as aerial fabrics are not subject to this obligation. This distinction is important to understand for circus professionals and venue managers, because it allows them to focus on the performance and safety of the apparatus without the additional constraints linked to infugation. This fabric is therefore not classified M1.
Fabric Guarantee
The warranty takes into account manufacturing defects and does not cover normal wear and tear of the fabric (fraying fabric, or holes in the fabric linked to improper use).
Hello, I would like to install a fixed trapeze at home. Since I don't have the ceiling height inside, I would like to put it on my terrace. I have a duplex. So I was thinking of putting a beam on my second terrace to give it 5m of height.
We are going to build a brick wall on the second terrace as an extension. If I wedge a wooden or metal beam into this brick and then fix it to the ground on my lower terrace. Let's say in an L shape. Would that be sufficient? What other solution do you suggest? Thank you very much.
I invite you to contact us by email with your questions about the trapeze because we are here on the aerial fabric product sheet! Your question concerns the structure of your building, which is outside our area of expertise. You will need to contact a building specialist and indicate the movement forces exerted on your anchor points. You should plan for approximately 1 ton of resistance on your anchor points. Even for static use, the forces exerted are significant, and the higher the aerial technical level of the person practicing, the greater these forces will be. Do not neglect the safety of the people practicing and, consequently, of the structure that will accommodate the anchor point(s).
Good morning
Is it possible to hang the aerial fabric on an openwork stair step? At a height of 2.5m, we would place a strap (a 1-ton sling) around the step. What do you think? It's possible. What additional fastenings are needed?
THANKS
Thank you for your message regarding the installation of an aerial fabric on an openwork stair tread. I understand your wishes; however, it is important to emphasize that this installation carries significant risks for several reasons: Strength and Stability: Stair treads, even openwork ones, are generally not designed to withstand dynamic loads such as those generated by the use of aerial fabric. The forces applied during aerial movements can cause oscillations or unexpected movements of the tread, compromising the stability of the entire staircase. Slipping Hazard: A strap (sling) placed around a step could slip or move, especially if the step is made of metal or smooth wood. This movement could cause the aerial silk user to lose their balance and risk a serious fall. Dynamic Load: Aerial silks equipment must be able to support not only the static weight of the user, but also the dynamic loads generated by movements and controlled falls. A stair step is not designed to absorb these forces without risk of breakage or deformation. Unprovided Anchor Points: Stair steps are not certified anchor points for aerial activities. The absence of a secure and certified anchor point increases the risk of accidents. For a secure installation, it is essential to: Use anchor points specially designed for aerial activities , fixed in structures capable of supporting high and dynamic loads, such as metal/wood beams or reinforced ceilings. Call a qualified professional to assess the strength of the structure and install the necessary equipment. In summary, hanging an aerial fabric on an openwork stair tread presents numerous dangers and is not recommended. It is imperative to choose appropriate anchor points and ensure that the entire installation is carried out according to professional standards to guarantee the user's safety.
Good morning,
I read in the fabric specifications that if we have holes or fraying it is a misuse of the fabric. Can you explain to me what this consists of? What do you mean by misuse?
Thanks in advance
Hello, can I choose a fabric 18m long, and install it sometimes at a height of 3m? Just so I only have to buy one fabric depending on where I install it
Good morning,
I started aerial silks in middle school and I really enjoy this discipline!
I would like to buy one but first I have some questions for you.
First of all, where can I hang it above 5m for falls? I would like to install it in my garage (3m50) but that will limit the number of tricks.
And what materials will I need to install the fabric on a beam?
And would you have any aerial silks accounts to learn new figures?
And then there is the question of colors... does white stain easily/quickly?
Good evening
Thanks in advance.
Good morning
Are your fabrics flame retardant? If so, can they still be washed?
If not, is it OK to put them in school without being fireproof?
Thank you in advance for your answers.
Hello, I would like to hang a fabric in a performance hall and I would like to know how much the structure must support at least to withstand falls and other figures.
Hello, I would like to order aerial fabrics but they are out of stock.
I wanted to know when they will be available?
Thank you for your reply.
Hello, do you have the necessary information to secure the anchor points for hammocks installed at a single point or two points as well? Do you know what resistance is required for the tonnage? I saw in your previous comments that you recommended 1 ton for aerial fabrics. But according to the standards, what weight should be taken into account for a hammock attached at a single point 3.50m from the ground and a hammock attached at two points 3.50m?
Thank you in advance for your reply.
Emmanuelle
Sorry, setting up hammocks is outside my area of expertise.
Good morning,
Is it possible to install the fabric into a hammock? If so, can you tell me what I would need?
Thanks in advance
Hammocks are not our specialty. We specialize in aerial silks. We have a lot of customers who buy our fabrics to make hammocks for the quality of the fabric, its grip, and its comfort. I couldn't advise you on setting up a hammock, but it's good to know that our fabrics have a label in the center of the fabric that cannot be removed. The label indicates standards, strength, etc. This label can be annoying if you use our fabrics to make a hammock. Used as an aerial silk, the label is in the center and is found in the knot around the fabric bell so as not to get in the way.
Hello, what is the minimum size for hanging fabric at home?
Because my daughter does this sport and she would like one. She is 13 years old.
It is possible to set up a fabric with a ceiling height of at least 3 meters, but you should know that with 3 meters of ceiling height the figures you can work on will be very limited. This can be interesting for someone who is starting out to discover the basics of the discipline. There is already a lot to do with the basics, but you should know that with experience, there will come the frustration of not being able to go further in the more advanced figures.
Hello, what floor space is required to be able to practice safely?
There are no regulations regarding the required floor space. You need a space of at least 2 meters by 2 meters for your crash mattress.
Hello, what length do you recommend for an aerial fabric to install in an equestrian center arena? You have to take into account that the vaulters will be able to use the fabric while standing on a horse (1.50/60m at the withers). Highest point of the structure = 9m
Sincerely,
The best thing would be to call us so we can discuss this in person. Will your vaulters practice this exclusively from the backs of the horses, or will they also be hoisting themselves onto the fabric from the ground?
Good morning,
Is the fabric length indicated the length when installed in double? E.g., the basic 8m fabric is 3m more or less of rise?
THANKS
The length indicated is the total length of the fabric. An 8m fabric therefore corresponds to an installation with a ceiling height of 3m: 2 x 3m + one meter of beating on each side = 8 meters.
Good morning,
I'm looking to buy an aerial silk but I don't know anything about it. I'd like it to be safe first (rather than its price or color). Could you recommend a particular brand or model based on this criterion?
THANKS !
Our fabrics are all sold with a certificate of conformity. They are used almost everywhere in circus schools in Europe. They meet the requirements of professionals. You won't be making a mistake by purchasing a fabric from us. However, where you need to be careful is when installing it. You need an anchor point capable of withstanding approximately 1 ton of pressure. We can help you with this. Don't hesitate to contact us directly by phone or email for advice.
Good morning,
Is it possible to contact a circus/aerial professional to get an opinion on a potential branch to use for practicing aerial silks?
Thank you.
If you want to install an anchor point on a tree, you should ask a tree professional. You will need a tree branch capable of supporting about 1 ton. If you would like information on possible attachments to a tree branch, please feel free to email me and I can advise you.
Hello again,
Okay, thank you for your reply. I'm also hesitant to install a swing set in a flat area of my garden.
A tripod gantry does not necessarily require a flat space as long as the apparatus remains inside the boom of course.
Hello, is a semi-static rope (caving/canyoning type) hanging from a strong branch and wrapped around a sturdy tree trunk a reliable hanging system for the fabric (the hanging knots are those used in climbing, and the fabric is attached to the rope knot by a bell and a carabiner as you describe)? Thanks in advance.
Please note that for any type of setup, your attachment point must be able to withstand around 1 ton to take into account the weight of the person in motion, especially if you are installing an aerial silk. For any use of rope, you will of course need to check the characteristics of the rope used. We have iridium rope that will be suitable for this type of setup. It has very little elasticity, which will be important if you are also installing an aerial hoop at some point.
Good morning,
What length of fabric would you recommend for a ceiling height of 3.22m? Is it better to use 8 or 10 meters? Will it be problematic for making figures if the fabric is a little too long? This is for my daughter.
Thank you very much and have a nice day!
With your hook (carabiners + fabric bell), you will have about 3 meters of height: an 8 meter fabric will do the job well. If you need advice on setting up the fabric, do not hesitate to contact us directly by email or by phone, our contact details are at the top of the page. A little too much fabric will not be a problem for creating figures.
Good morning,
I would like to buy 12 meters of fabric for my home, I would like to hang it on a beam...How do I do this? Should I buy the carabiners that are in the video? Or should I hang them using a chain? Thanks in advance :-)
Sincerely
To install an aerial silks, you'll need a sturdy structure because we don't take into account the weight of the person performing, but rather their weight in motion. For example, on an aerial silks, a person who weighs very little can quickly reach a weight of 500kg to 700kg. You'll therefore need a structure capable of withstanding approximately 1 ton. If you have a load-bearing beam, this will be perfect. Otherwise, if you install a beam, you will need to have the solidity of the structure confirmed by an approved organization, an architect, a carpenter or even a mason. To install the fabric on a beam, you will need a sewn ring that will go around your beam. The dimensions of this ring will be chosen according to the size of your beam. You will find the different sewn rings on our site. Install without PIVOT - Sewn ring - You will then need a carabiner to make the connection between the sewn ring and the fabric bell - A fabric bell - Then the fabric is placed on the fabric bell. Install with PIVOT: - Sewn ring - Petzl Swivel Pivot - A fabric bell - Then the fabric is placed on the fabric bell. You could use the Swivel Camp , but it doesn't open and will require a carabiner between the sewn ring and the swivel, and a second carabiner between the swivel and the fabric bell. If you don't have much headroom, using the Petzl Swivel will give you some extra height. Above all, don't hesitate to call us; we can offer advice before or after your purchase! Preferably beforehand, to make sure you choose the right items.
I would like to buy this fabric to attach it to a hammock like my daughter has at circus school. Is this possible? Therefore, the bell is not suitable for attachment; what should I use? Thank you.
Many people buy this fabric from us to make aerial hammocks / yoga etc. However, please note that there is a label in the center of the fabric with the fabric's compliance information. The label is not a problem for use as an aerial fabric but it could be a problem for other uses. However, I do not have the expertise to advise you on anything other than using it as an aerial fabric.
Good morning,
I would like to purchase this fabric to install in a summer camp. I can't find the standards for reception mats. You say that below two meters, a 20cm mattress is sufficient. Is it 2m under the feet? Or is it 2 meters under the hands? Do you have a link you could send me where I could find the exact standards? Thank you in advance.
There are no specific standards. However, the French Federation of Circus Schools recommends an installation at a height of 6.5 meters for use by performing arts professionals. For this type of installation, they recommend using a 2m x 2m, 40cm-thick mattress. If you are giving lessons to children and beginners, it is recommended to use a mattress of at least 10cm for a working height of up to 1.50m with a width and length of at least 1.5m. For a working height of 1.5m to 2.5m, a 40cm thick landing mat or fall mat measuring 2mx2m.
I recommend, great color, quality fabric, delivered on time with free posters! Thank you very much
Good evening
Do you have a deadline for restocking the 8m fabrics?
Thanks in advance, L.
Large arrival of aerial silks expected yesterday, today, or Monday! Regarding stock questions, as they move every day, please contact us directly by phone at 05 55 56 25 79.
Hello, we would like to raise a playground to install a trapeze for a 7-year-old girl who also loves doing fabric.... Is it possible to buy an 8 m aerial fabric knowing that the height of the playground will be a little more than 3 m?? Is a playground quite sturdy or too risky? knowing that there will be no large throws or anything else? Thank you for your response, L.
To install a fabric, you will need a structure capable of supporting a ton of pressure. On an aerial fabric, this is the weight of the person in motion, and on an aerial fabric on falls, this weight will very quickly become significant, even if the person on the fabric has a low mass. Get advice from a specialized structure. If you don't have a design office on hand, if you have a mason or an architect among your friends, ask them; they have knowledge of structures and will be able to give you answers and advice for this type of installation. NetJuggler does not have the expertise to assist you with the structure that will accommodate the aerial equipment. If you are installing it outdoors, remember to bring the equipment in after each use and carefully check the wear and tear of the various elements. For practice, it is recommended to use a landing mat 20cm to 40cm thick for use up to 2m in height. Never practice alone. And take lessons before using it independently at home.
Hello, my daughter would like to do aerial silks at home, but I was wondering from what age you can do it at home.
Sincerely
Regardless of age, practicing fabric should always be done in the presence of someone for safety reasons.
It is also essential to take classes with a professional before considering practicing at home.

Hello, I bought my fabric from you.
What do you recommend for washing this one please?
Sincerely
To wash the fabric, you can put it in the washing machine. A cold wash will be perfect. No more than 30°. This is a 100% polyester fabric, so you can also use soap in your machine. We advise against using too much soap; an organic soap without harsh products would be better, especially if you wash it from time to time. Avoid frequent washing.
The fabric is very good quality and the elasticity is perfect. My daughter wears it every day and tells me it's better than the one at school, so I'm delighted.
What type of fabric do you recommend for young children (6-8 years old), especially in width so that their little hands can easily grab the two sides?
Sincerely
This fabric will be perfect for use with children.
Good morning,
Is it possible to use this fabric to make a yoga hammock?
THANKS :)
This fabric can indeed be used to make a yoga hammock. Be careful with your attachment points.
Hello, I would be curious to know if you are satisfied with the fabric for your yoga hammock?
Good morning,
What is the material of the fabric please? Kind regards
The fabric is 100% polyester.
Hello, is it possible to hang it on a tree and if so, with what attachment? Thank you.
Aerial fabric can be attached to all types of supports provided that the strength of the support can withstand a force of approximately 2 tonnes. To secure the fabric, you will need a fabric bell. There are several methods for holding your fabric in place. One system that works particularly well for attaching to a beam or branch is to use a sewn-in sling/ring . Then a carabiner and a fabric bell. Or to allow the fabric to pivot on itself: carabiner - swivel - carabiner - bell.
Do you have a video tutorial to help you understand how to attach the fabric to a tree or beam, please?
We don't have a tutorial available. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us directly by phone; we'll be happy to guide you.
Good morning
Are they very stretchy or not because my daughter doesn't like it when there are too many of them. If I take a 12 meter turquoise what is the delivery time?
Thanks in advance
The fabrics are very slightly stretchy but not too much, so that they are not too tiring to use.
Good morning,
If I buy 10m of fabric, will that mean I will receive 20m of fabric? Thank you.
Good morning, If you buy 10 meters of fabric, that means you will receive 10 meters of fabric :-) Sincerely,
