Staff sold individually , equipped with Kevlar wicks.

Braided fire staff:

This staff is a model that turns and rolls smoothly compared to a normal staff. It can also be used for dynamic practice. It is a rather versatile staff. Its particularity compared to more affordable staffs is to be equipped with a wick made of Kevlar rope braided around the staff. There are no less than 8 meters of Kevlar rope in 10mm diameter on this staff. Under this Kevlar rope there is classic wick which serves as thermal insulation but also as a fuel reservoir to increase the duration of the flames .

This amount of Kevlar and this type of braiding allows for the storage of large quantities of fuel, consequently, this allows for a more imposing flame that lasts longer than an assembly with a classic wick.

The heart of Boryna is an exceptional 8m weave of 10mm rope. To extend the burn time, there is a Kevlar wick hidden under the rope. It reduces the temperature and allows for more fuel storage.

The metal elements have been concealed to increase safety when using the staff. The special braided structure allows oxygen to reach a large surface area, which affects the size of the flame. The flame is enormous, visible from afar and felt up close.

Technical characteristics of the Boryna staff:

  • Kevlar rope width: 8 meters.
  • Length of flat Kevlar wick used: 80cm.
  • Length: 148cm.
  • Length of each head: 20cm.
  • Length of the part with grip: 60cm.
  • Staff weight: approximately 665 grams.
  • Ignition time: 5 to 11 minutes.
  • Sweat-absorbent handle/grip.

For what type of practice?

The Boryna fire staff is aimed at an adult professional audience looking for a versatile staff. It can be used for dance with slow and fluid movements while giving good performance on fast movements. This model is not intended for specialized use like some other staff models that we present. However, be careful, we insist on use reserved for professionals , this model is one of our staffs which has the most substantial flames.

If you're looking for a staff that will be more stable for contact with similar characteristics, we have a model with a 13mm wick (heavier) which gives a slightly heavier staff. It has a slightly longer ignition time. This is the Szyszko staff.

Tips for using fire staff:

Here are some guidelines to increase the lifespan of your staff. Professionals are used to these kinds of guidelines, but they can't be repeated enough...

When soaking your wicks, soak them 3/4 full. This will allow the Kevlar time to absorb all the fuel and prevent it from leaking and dripping onto the grip of your fire staff. It is important to know that the grip of the staff is heat resistant but not flame resistant. Also, be careful not to let any fuel drip onto the grip of the staff. This could encourage flames to spread to the grip and cause deformation or premature wear of your grip.

  • Never use fuels such as white spirit, benzene, or other alcohol-based fuels. Instead, use de-aromatized petroleum, which produces a bright yellow flame known as "cold." If you have a blue or transparent flame, this means you are not using the right fuel. Do not persist and check your fuel.
  • Do not hold the staff in a static vertical position, always keep it moving or in a horizontal position so that the flames do not damage the structure or elements of your staff such as its grip for example.
  • Handle the grip gently to ensure a long lifespan.
  • Do not dip the staff into the fuel.

You might want to take inspiration from this tutorial for bolas that are mounted around a chain. Apply a similar technique around the staff tube. Be careful, however, to secure the assembly, you'll need to use several screws between the rope and the aluminum staff tube. Fireball Tutorial - BCC

    Replacing the heads

I couldn't find the replacement heads on the website? How does this work and especially at what price given the quantity of Kevlar? This is a criterion to take into account for me before deciding to order. Thank you

      Re: Replacing the heads

When you need to change your staff's strands, you can do it yourself. It may seem a little intimidating, but the process is simple. We offer a variety of different types of Kevlar, sold by the meter, in strips, or as rope. The choice of Kevlar type will depend on your knot-tying expertise and personal preference. If you're comfortable with knots and want to create a similar rig to the original, we recommend using Kevlar rope. You'll need to create a strong, secure rig. If you're not comfortable with knots or prefer a simpler method, you can choose to use Kevlar tape. Simply wrap the wick tape around the staff and secure it with screws. Here's a video explaining how to do this. The video I made is for a torch, but the principle will be the same for a staff. Whichever option you choose, make sure you install it properly by tightening your wick as much as possible to ensure a high-quality reservoir and screwing it in properly so it's securely attached to your staff. If you have any additional questions or need further assistance, please don't hesitate to contact us. We're here to help you enjoy your fire staff safely and to the fullest.

    Staff Boryna

Very good stick. Super happy with my purchase. Very large flames, you can really feel the difference compared to staff with a classic 100mm wick. However, I put 2 self-drilling screws on each wick! Because one fell into the soaking basin. No problem, but during the show it would have been dangerous. Talk to the manufacturer 😉
