Large triple bearing diabolo:

The Hurricane diabolo is a diabolo model equipped with triple bearings from the English manufacturer "Juggle Dream" .

Three years of research and development were necessary before arriving at such a result. The new Hurricane now has a new reinforced axle as well as new translucent hull colors.

Video by Alex Grums:

Here is a diabolo video made for NetJuggler by Alex Grums. The video highlights diabolo techniques used in Vertax (excalibur). This discipline is Alex's specialty and this diabolo equipped with bearings is particularly suited to this discipline.

NetJuggler Info:

  • Like its little brother the "Cyclone", the axle works like a one-way screwdriver except that there are three internal bearings to give it enormous speed.
  • Thanks to its speed and larger cups, the Hurricane is incredibly stable at high speeds and will spin up to twenty times longer than standard diabolos.
  • This means that the person practicing will have more time to prepare and perform their tricks. It will therefore be easier to perform trick combos without having to constantly re-accelerate their diabolo.
  • The wide shaft also makes it easier to perform figures on the fingers and on the sticks.

Features of the Hurricane diabolo:

  • Weight: 280g.
  • Diameter of the cups: 126mm.
  • Diabolo height: 153 mm.
  • Axle: triple bearings.
  • Axle width: 24mm.
  • A black and white color code on each side of the axle allows you to determine the direction of use of the diabolo.
  • Please note, since August 2024 this diabolo has undergone improvements to the axle and is no longer compatible with light kits.

For what type of practice?

Highly recommended for all levels. For beginner children, we recommend medium-sized diabolos.

NetJuggler Tips:

If you are a beginner, NetJuggler advises you to take a spool of string with your order. Indeed, beginners with jerky and jerky movements wear out the strings very quickly, in a few hours, where the same string can last a few weeks for an experienced diabolist. This will save you from spending shipping costs again when your string is worn out.

NetJuggler information on bearing diabolos:

If you're not familiar with bearing diabolos, the principle is this: once your diabolo has picked up speed, it will maintain it for much longer than a diabolo with a regular axle. Here are some of the advantages:

  • Rotation time up to 20 times longer than a normal diabolo.
  • Possibility of chaining together numerous figures without having to re-accelerate your diabolo.
  • Wide axle to facilitate many tricks.
  • Minimal friction between axle and sticks during grinds/slides.
  • Limits friction when practicing vertax (diabolo axis vertical).
Triple Roll for Beginners:

Children and beginners will love it because its axis will allow very long grinds, thus making it possible to catch the diabolo on the sticks or even the fingers!

Triple bearing for experienced diabolists:

The interest for an experienced diabolist will be to facilitate the figures in excalibur (or vertax), in which the diabolo will be used in a horizontal plane (with its axis vertical).

Triple rotation for teachers:

Teachers will have plenty of time to explain tricks to beginners because the diabolo never stops spinning! No need to be an expert to teach new tricks.

Some disadvantages or limitations of ball bearings : it becomes impossible to do all the tricks based on the elevator. These diabolos with bearings are not made to practice with several diabolos (except vertax), because they will turn too quickly in the string compared to diabolos equipped with normal axles. It may be necessary to change the bearing system once the balls of the bearings show wear, which of course never happens on a normal diabolo!

Disassemble / Assemble a Hurricane diabolo

It is not recommended to disassemble your Hurricane diabolo. There is no maintenance to be done on this type of diabolo. That being said, despite the fact that we advise you not to disassemble your diabolo, many of you do it! Rather than making us all angry, I have put together a short video that explains how to disassemble and reassemble the diabolo correctly!

      Re: diabolo scratched

Good morning, No, scratches will not affect the performance of the Hurricane diabolo. You can scratch it as much as you like. Scratches will only affect the aesthetics. The shells of these diabolos are designed to withstand damage, so before they break, you can go for it. Best wishes

Good morning, Thank you for your question. The Hurricane diabolo is a model from the English brand Juggle Dream. Possibility of hulls breaking?

Hello, I heard about possible scratches on the cases, but can they actually break in the event of a bad fall? Thanks in advance

    25/07/2023
    • Answer
      Re: Possibility of hulls breaking?

The shells on this type of diabolo are of high quality. It will be almost impossible for you to tear them. Perhaps your dog could tear them if you give them enough time. Or perhaps you could tear them by driving over them several times with a car! We advise against these techniques if you want to give your diabolo a good lifespan.

    Figures with 2 Hurricane diabolos?

    Good morning,

My apologies if this question has already been asked...

About to confirm my order, I would like to know if the Hurricane model can allow tricks with 2 diabolos?

    Thank you for your feedback,

    Best regards,

    07/08/2022
    • Answer
Re: Figures with 2 Hurricane diabolos?

For practice with several diabolos, it will be easier to use diabolos equipped with fixed axles because there is more friction on the string which will make the diabolos turn less quickly around each other. With diabolos equipped with bearings like the Hurricane your diabolos will spin around each other too quickly. My answer is correct for a beginner level with 2 or more diabolos. With an advanced level, it may be interesting to develop tricks with several diabolos at the same time, such as vertax tricks.

      Re: Fixed axis equivalent

I invite you to take a look at the Typhoon diabolo. They have the same shells. The weight is not quite the same, however. The Typhoon weighs 240g while the Hurricane weighs 280g. The Typhoon's weight will be suitable for practicing with several diabolos at the same time:

      Re: Hurricane or Circus Free?

      Diabolo Hurricane or Circus Free?

The Hurricane diabolo's bearing system has less play than the Henrys Circus Free. This means you'll get better performance when using a Vertax diabolo. However, the Hurricane will scratch more easily than the Circus if you're playing outdoors on asphalt or gravel.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us by phone, we will be able to advise you better.

Diabolo Vision Free vs diabolo Hurricane

      - The Vision Free diabolo and the Hurricane diabolo have similar rotation speeds and durations. Depending on your acceleration, one will last longer than the other and vice versa :-). - The Hurricane diabolo has a bearing system which has less play and will give it better stability, particularly for practicing vertax. - The Hurricane diabolo has shinier shells than the Vision, which means it will scratch more easily than the Vision.

    Choice

Hello, I would like some information, I have been practicing diabolo for quite some time, I currently have a Henrys Vison diabolo (without bearings), and I would like to buy a bearing diabolo to start vertax, can you tell me what is the difference between the Hurricane diabolo and the Vision Free? In terms of reliability in the event of a fall from a high height, and its lifespan over time?

    THANKS

    22/11/2015
    • Answer
      Re: Choice

The Hurricane diabolo is first of all larger than the Vision Free diabolo . If you are practicing vertax , there will be less friction than with the Vision Free diabolo. The diabolo will therefore maintain its speed for longer. The Hurricane axle has much less transverse play than the ball bearing axles from the German manufacturer Henrys, which will provide greater comfort during use.

The Vision Free diabolo, however, has shells that are more resistant to all tests and that scratch much less easily than those of the Hurricane. When the shells are very translucent like those of the Hurricane, if you want them to remain beautiful and shiny, we advise you to avoid using them on surfaces such as asphalt or gravel.

However, if I have not provided enough answers, do not hesitate to contact us by telephone; you will find our contact details at the top and bottom of our site.

Of course, I can advise you. You'll find a lot of information on our site. You could start by watching the videos on each category page of the different types of diabolos. This will give you an idea of what's out there. Then, if you have questions about each diabolo page, you can ask questions about the diabolo in question, just like you asked your question here. We try to respond fairly quickly.

Alternatively, you can also give us a quick call and we'll be able to explain to you in person what's being done and what might be suitable for you. You'll find our toll-free number at the top and bottom of the site.

      Re: Choice

Both are very good models. If you want to do vertax, the Hurricane will give you better performance since it is a little larger and will benefit from better inertia while rubbing less on the string. The Vision Free is a little smaller, however it has better quality ball bearings than those of the Hurricane.

    • Answer
      Re: rolling or not

Yes, you can do Vertax with any type of large diabolo. But it will be much easier to practice with diabolos equipped with ball bearings because it reduces friction and allows you to chain more tricks without having to constantly re-accelerate your diabolo.

    • Answer
      Re: rolling or not?

I got the Hurricane at the same age as you, that is to say a year ago, and if you want to progress I advise you to take a bearing diabolo, because if you do tricks with only one diabolo it will avoid having to re-accelerate it all the time which will give you more time to do your tricks, from experience I can tell you that I really progressed and quite quickly!

Is the Hurricane indestructible like the Henrys?

      11/11/2014
    • Answer
      Re: rolling or not?

It's always possible to destroy a diabolo, regardless of the model. But the Circus diabolo is indeed one of the most robust. The Hurricane diabolo is just as strong as the Circus. However, it has shiny shells, and like all diabolos with shiny shells, these scratch more easily than the shells of the Circus diabolo. If you intend to practice on gravel or asphalt, perhaps the Circus would be a better choice.

The Circus diabolo is equipped with a triple bearing system, it is called the Circus FREE . You will find it in the category of diabolos with bearings .

    28/05/2014
    • Answer
      Re: juggling with 2 diabolos

Since the Hurricane is equipped with ball bearings, it will spin too fast in the string to make it easy to practice with several diabolos of this type. Diabolos equipped with bearings are rather intended to be used for making 1 diabolo as well as for practicing with two diabolos in verta. But very few diabolists in the world have this level to date.

To practice with several diabolos, I recommend the Typhoon diabolo, which is optimized for practicing with several diabolos.

Re: Hurricane vs Cyclone vs Vision free

Good morning, Regarding the characteristics of these diabolos. The Cyclone is a medium-sized diabolo. The Vision Free is a little larger, and the Hurricane is even larger. The two higher-end models are the Vision Free and the Hurricane. The Hurricane, being the largest, will be the most suitable for practicing Vertax, as you can see in the Hurricane presentation video. If you are not at a high level, then all three models will meet your expectations. If you are an experienced diabolist or want to reach a higher level, then the Hurricane will be the diabolo best suited to your needs. Happy juggling :-)

Re: Hurricane vs Cyclone vs Vision free

The Hurricane is larger. It will therefore be more stable and benefit from better inertia, which means it will spin longer. Be careful, however, for children, the Hurricane is also heavier. The other advantage of a large diabolo equipped with bearings like the Hurricane is that it will be better suited for practicing Vertax tricks.

    • Answer
      Re: choice

The main difference between the Circus Free and the other models is that it is equipped with a higher quality German-made bearing. It will therefore be more precise and quieter. The Hurricane is offered at a more attractive price than the Circus, but it is just as pleasant to use for Vertax. Some diabolists even prefer it to the Circus Free. The choice between the two models is a matter of taste. The visual of the Hurricane with its translucent shells does not leave you indifferent... But here too, it is a matter of taste and colors :-). There is talk of introducing a version of the Hurricane in the future that will be equipped with high-performance German bearings because the Hurricane diabolo is really a big success. But of course this version will certainly cost more than the current Hurricane. Happy juggling :-)
