Delivered complete with the wand , treat yourself to this entertainment which is less easy to practice than it seems.

Icons of stylized figures juggling Chinese plates. The figures are depicted in a standing position, each holding a plate atop a chopstick. The illustration shows several poses and movements associated with plate juggling.

Chinese plate:

It's all about the flexibility of the wrist. The Chinese plate , also called the juggling plate , is a circus technique that is very popular with everyone. This practice requires good motor skills and a certain awareness of the body's schema.

Learn how to use a Chinese plate

In this video, I introduce you to this model and I also explain how to spin a Chinese plate .

Soft wand

The chopstick sold with this plate is a flexible model to facilitate the use of the Chinese plate. If you want to be more rigorous with this discipline, we also offer wooden chopsticks on our site.

The shape of the plate is such that it can balance quite easily on top of the stick. The basic movement is to rotate the plate on the end of the stick while balancing on its center.

NetJuggler logo on a blue juggling plate, showing rounded design elements and raised lettering.

NetJuggler Tips:

Start slowly and gradually accelerate by drawing circles in the air with the tip of the stick. The movement comes from the wrist. When the plate is spinning fast enough and stabilizes horizontally, block the movement and it stabilizes its rotation.
This is when you can try several tricks: throw the plate and then catch it on the stick. Pass the plate from the stick to a finger on your hand or to a finger of your neighbor!

Pink plastic Chinese plate, top view. It has a conical shape in the center and a wide rim, ideal for juggling.

Features of the soft plate:

  • Outer diameter of the plate: 23cm.
  • Inner diameter, where the rod turns: 14.6cm.
  • Inner rim height: 1.6cm: perfect for use with the supplied stick as well as lightly trimmed wooden sticks (not supplied).
  • Height under the tip of the plate: 3.5cm.
  • Weight: 75g.
  • Existing colors: Yellow, Orange, Green, Pink, Blue, Red, Turquoise.
  • Sold with a flexible wand .
  • Brand: NetJuggler

Holding the plate on the baguette

    Good morning,

I'm in the middle of a circus sequence with my CM1-CM2 students. We tried the Chinese plate and no one succeeded. I watched the videos carefully. I don't understand why I can't do it every time. Yet I've practiced grs and I'm used to turning my wrist to manipulate the clubs. Can you help me? I would so like to understand...

Re: Holding the plate on the baguette

For us adults it's a little more difficult, we have trouble relaxing our wrists. Draw circles in the air with your chopstick without the plate Place the plate in place and draw the same circles with your stick, mentally ignoring the plate. The wand should rotate on itself and it is the wand that goes around it. If this is not the case, it is because you are too tense on the wand with your wrist! Do you use our plates? Because some commercially available plates are almost impossible to use.

Re: Holding the plate on the baguette

I have been practicing circus arts since I was 3 years old so I am good at it at the beginning you have to put the Intex on the bottom of the stick then place the plate on the tip but not in the middle on the edge then turn the handle quickly and stop when it turns enough I hope I helped you goodbye (Léa 14 years old practices at the circus school l'école des nez rouge in Saint-Dié-des-Vosges in the 88)

    figures

Hello, I've been doing plates for a year and now I'm bored. I'd like you to suggest some tricks. Here are the tricks I know how to do: 5 plates at the same time then plank and a plate on one finger, jump the plate while jumping at the same time, turn on one foot, do the bridge with a plate in one hand and now I'm learning to do a one-handed balance with a plate in one hand? I'm waiting for your ideas.

      Re: figures

You seem to be a pro at handling the plate! I couldn't teach you more, you seem to master them better than me! However, I think it's finally time for you to discover juggling with balls, clubs and why not the diabolo! The plates are just a discovery and a very first small step into the wonderful world of juggling and circus arts! Happy juggling!

      Re: figures

There are a multitude of ways to make your own juggling equipment. The internet is full of information on this subject. For example, you can make your own juggling balls from balloons filled with rice, semolina, or flour, for example. You can make your own devil sticks from recycled materials (an old bicycle inner tube will make an excellent grip). I invite you to find out more on the internet; if you are motivated and a DIY enthusiast, there are plenty of things you can do yourself without spending your pocket money here :-). If you are not a DIY enthusiast, maybe now is the time to become one! You are never better served than by yourself! Long live juggling!

    Question ???

    Is this item guaranteed?

    10/11/2010
    • Answer
      Re: Question???

This item comes with a one-year warranty. Please note, however, that the wooden chopstick is not covered by the warranty. The chopsticks supplied with the plates are made of beech and are therefore sturdy, but when used in a school or association environment, they eventually wear out and break... It's inevitable! This is why associations and schools restock every year with a few new chopsticks! But the plates, on the other hand, are normally indestructible! If you have a problem with equipment that comes from us, give us a call at 05 55 56 25 79; there is very little equipment that we sell that is not guaranteed. We are rather rigorous in the selection of the equipment that we sell.

    Basic question

Are your Chinese plates suitable for "little ones or beginners" or are they more suitable for circus arts enthusiasts?

    Thank you so much!

      Re: Basic question

Our plates are excellent for beginners, especially for children and teenagers/adults. A great way to introduce them to the art of juggling. The rim is quite deep, making them easier to use, especially for beginners.

This is a good quality model made in Italy by Play who make quality items for use with children.

    Small technical question

I received my four Chinese plates today. Great products, ideal for children.

However, the end of the stick is not pointed like in the photo, is this normal? How can I sharpen it to make it easier to handle this juggling product, which is not as easy as I thought?

Thank you in advance and have a happy new year!

      Re: Small technical question

Hello, Depending on our stock, we do not always cut the baguettes...

The order should have included small plastic pieces that fit on the end of the chopsticks. If you didn't have these small pieces, it may be a mistake on our part, in which case, I invite you to contact us by phone, we will send these pieces to you by mail. You can also, if you wish, simply sharpen your chopsticks with a pencil sharpener. This works just as well!
