"Russian Ball" - 1/3 thin Sand Quartz filling:

Play's challenge here: combining tradition and technology.

The SRX is the only modern "Russian Ball" with a soft shell that retains the original principles of these balls. A diameter of 75mm makes this ball interesting for juggling with 3 and 5 balls, but also for practicing with even more balls. A larger diameter will be more visual but also more difficult to juggle with on a 7 ball for example.

Allows you to carry up to 6 balls like these. The bag will be automatically added to your order when being prepared if you order at least 5 of these balls. :-)

NetJuggler's opinion:

Its shell is soft to the touch. Part of the interior volume of the SRX ball is filled with very thin quartz sand. These lightweight balls are closed with the new colour cap from Play. It does not roll when it falls to the ground (it stops dead). It facilitates blockages on the body (foot, head, arms ...). In direct comparison with a traditional Russian ball, the shell is softer to the touch, more pleasant in the hand but the shell is heavier than on a Russian ball like the Russian DBS ball for example.

Characteristics of the SRX ball:

  • Diameter: 75 mm.
  • Weight: 110 g.
  • Filling: Very thin sand quartz.

Video by Vicky Versari:

Here is a clip from Vicky Versari's Rho Jonglerie Antipodisme video where she juggles with Russian SRX balls but whose diameter is greater than the diameter of this model (78mm).

What kind of use ?

The SRX75 ball is ideal for juggling with 3 to 5 balls and more. If you're a beginner, NetJuggler advises you to opt for the Varana 441 ball.

    filling

    Good morning,

Can the cap be easily removed to change the filling volume or even change the filling type?

      Re: filling

The cap can be removed and replaced very easily. Be careful, however, because the opening is tiny, it is impossible to put things larger than the size of the opening :-)

    Russian bullets

SRX, Norwik or DBs, which are ultimately real Russian balls because Play has innovated but you specify elsewhere that the Russian ball effect is more accentuated with the SRX, it seems paradoxical. Do they require even more "clean" juggling? but for what purpose?

    THANKS

      Re: Russian Bullets

Good morning, Perhaps I don't always express myself in the best way when writing my bullet descriptions. Especially on Russian bullets where the differences are subtle. SRX balls reproduce the Russian ball effect but compared to all the other Russian balls I sell the shell of the SRX is different: it is soft, flexible, squishy. On other Russian balls like the Norwicks, the DBS, the shells are made of plastic that crushes to the touch but harder to the touch and thinner. The shells of the DBS and Norwiks are much thinner and lighter, they are like the shells of ball pool balls. SRX are heavier than traditional Russian balls. A Russian ball juggler will generally start with a heavy Russian ball like the SRX and gradually lower the weight of his balls until he ends up with a very very light ball like the Norwik or the DBS.

      Re: Russian Bullets

So is it still worth starting with SRXs to get started with Russian bullets as you mentioned?

      Re: Russian Bullets

If you want to be extreme, if you are determined to develop pure technical juggling. If you are not afraid to force yourself for 1 or 2 weeks to juggle with balls that you will not like at first, then the DBS balls will be perfect for you. Remember to have a good body position, legs slightly bent. The movements start from the elbows, do not let the arms rise. Blow out and empty your lungs before throwing the first ball, this will force you to breathe while juggling otherwise we tend to hold our breath when we start juggling and then when we are forced to inhale it creates a jerk.

If you want a smooth transition, switching to the SRX can be interesting. It doesn't have the exact feel of a Russian bullet, but it leaves more room for error. Its shell is heavier than that of a Russian bullet like the DBS or the Norwik.

    SRX 75

Hi Matthew, the SRX 75 has a somewhat "sticky" hull, which makes it difficult to do certain multiplexes and start at 7 balls. Do you have any ideas on how to make the hull a little smoother, like the 67's?

    THANKS

      Re: SRX 75

Hey hey! There is a technique to soften the texture of the balls and make it all soft and pleasant! It consists of very delicately wiping it with a cloth soaked with a tiny bit of acetone... Protect your hands well and from the fumes of this unpleasant product to use. Test it on a ball first. It's really very delicate and light as an application. This will permanently remove the shiny side of the balls and give them a very soft and matte appearance. On the other hand, it will also remove their flashy shiny appearance. At your own risk!

    comparison srx75 and implosion 78

Does anyone have any idea what the difference is between the 75mm SRX and the 78mm Implosion?

    Thank you all.

Re: comparison srx75 and implosion 78

These are not the same bullets at all. Silx Implosion bullets have a thicker shell than all SRX bullets. Silx bullets have a fine quartz sand filling. Silx bullets have a liquid silicone filling.

SRXs have a very pronounced Russian ball effect. The stops are sharper and the ball trajectories will be cleaner than if the throws are "perfect", that is to say with a movement that starts from the elbow and not the wrist.
The silex have the Russian ball effect but since the silicone moves in a liquid way in the ball, this prevents the balls from shaking and this will soften the ball trajectories regardless of the juggler's level. In addition to having the Russian ball effect, they will facilitate the integration of contact juggling into juggling.
      Matthew.
