The Varana ball is sold individually with a millet filling.
This item is not to be used by children under 5 years of age.

Millet filled Varana 441 ball:

The Varana 441 ball is a ball with a diameter of 65mm. It is ideal for an intensive use. It is 100% made in France with a recyclable and phthalate free PVC . Its diameter makes this ball usable by children and for experienced jugglers working with 5 balls and more at the same time.

Netjuggler's varana 441 ball is a soft ball with a thin and soft hull. It's filled with millet in that case. This gives it a weight of 120 grams, ideal for beginners with 3 balls, but also to work with 5 balls and up to 7 balls.

Varana ball 441 documents:

Allows you to carry up to 10 balls like these. The bag will be automatically added to your order when being prepared if you order at least 5 of these balls. :-)

Video of the Varana 441 balls:

A big thank you to the Compagnie Les Invendus and to Raphael (Metlili) for the video.

Netjuggler's opinion:

Tts shell is light (35 grams) and thin, which gives it flexibility. The fact that it is slightly deformed when caught gives it a pleasant grip when juggled.

Technical characteristics:

  • Diameter of the ball: 65mm.
  • Mass of the ball: 120g.
  • Mass of the flexible shell between 33 and 35 grams only.
  • The translucent shell lets the millet appear inside the ball (this is the ball you see on the right on our photos.)
  • Millet filling: round seed that gives more flexibility to the ball than a semolina filling. This type of filling is softer and allows the ball to distort itself slightly when caught.
  • We fill it here manually in the Limousin aera where we are settled in the countryside :-)
  • If you need a snack, don't eat your ball! (unshelled millet, not suitable for consumption.)
  • This juggling ball model is not reactive in the presence of black light. We do not use UV pigments in the manufacture of our balls. This allows our balls to keep their color much longer when exposed to the sun in comparison with balls from other manufacturers who use UV pigments.
  • The colours: all colours are opaque except the translucent ball and the aubergine ball which is slightly translucent.

What kind of use ?

The diameter of these balls is ideal for using from 6 years old, but it is also an ideal ball for teenagers/adults.

Modular ball:

The plug system we've developed can be taken off. If you are a demanding juggler, this will allow you to modify the ball mass, by changing its content. This cap makes the ball waterproof, allowing you to put liquid in it. If you want to exert a significant pressure on a ball filled with liquid, we recommend you to glue the cap. Usually when you put liquid in a juggle ball, it is in order to lower the centre of gravity of the ball. The water is to be avoided because it moves too brutally in the ball making the trajectories of balls hazardous. We recommend the use of liquid silicone, or in other words: lubricant.

The Varana 441 ball to fill yourself:

We also market this empty Varana 441 ball to be filled by yourself. This allows you to lower the cost of your balls. You will find the empty varana 441 balls on our website at 5.5 euros only, and with a community rate at 4.5 euros. This will allow you to make a significant economy. If you work with an association or a school, we advise you to order empty balls, you can buy more balls for the same budget and thus able more people to juggle. The organization of a ball filling workshop can be entertaining and it reminds us that we can do some things by ourselves in this consumerist society where live in.

Why 441 ?

In the juggling field, there is a mathematical notation that allows you to write juggling tricks. To put it simply, we can compare this notation called siteswap to the music learning, allowing to create tricks by following specific rules but also to exchange and understand juggle tricks. The 441 is a juggling trick that is practiced with 3 balls.

To make the ball modulable we don't glue the cap of this ball. However if you use the balls in the school environment with turbulent children who do not respect the material, it might be a good idea for you to glue the ball caps:-).

How to maintain your Varana balls 441 in good condition ?

Unfortunately, any ball with a PVC coating is allergic to ink. This is the case with all juggling balls that exist. Indeed, when in contact with the ink, this type of balls are quite easily stained. That's why, it's good to carry them in a small nylon bag for example to prevent the balls from touching any ink. Attention should also be paid not to carry your balls in direct contact with a magazine or a newspaper for example.

Any other type of stain is cleaned easily with soapy water and a sponge.

You can try some acetone, but you need to know that the acetone will remove the bright side of the balls. Many jugglers coat acetone on the shiny balls to make them matte. Although, I don't recommend this method if you want your balls to stay bright.

    Advice

    Good morning,

I run circus workshops for a variety of audiences, most of whom are autistic and not very careful. I want to restock my balls and these seem pretty sturdy, but I'm wondering about the cap... Because knowing them, they'll be happy to open them. So how and with what should I glue them?

I also wonder about the price, do you have school prices, and is there a sliding scale depending on the number of balls ordered?

    Thanks in advance!

    Fanny

      Re: Advice

The ball caps are plug-shaped! Once in place, they are difficult to remove. You will have to pull very, very hard or remove them with your teeth! Difficult to remove, but not impossible. If you want to be on the safe side, you can use PVC pipe glue, which can be found in stores or in the plumbing section. This type of glue is generally very affordable, and it is perfect for this task! Be careful, however, as this means that you will no longer be able to empty or refill the ball afterwards.

    Smell!!

Hello, having had Silx Implosion for about 3 years, I was hoping that the smell of very chemical candy would disappear but in vain.. Can you tell me if this one smells the same, is it the same plastic or maybe the colors fade the smell? I should point out for readers that I am quite sensitive to smells.

    Choice of model

    Good morning,

I'm looking for 3 balls for my 10-year-old daughter. She's a beginner at 2, and is just starting with 3.

For her age, she has small hands, she is very thin, without being frail, rather toned, but we have fragile joints in the family, especially at the wrist level, so I would not want to strain hers more than necessary with balls that are too heavy...

The added bonus would be that they don't make too much noise when they fall, so she can use them at her father's house who lives in an apartment, without having to go out.

I would like her to have good equipment that will last, because she really likes it (she has been doing it every summer for several years).

So I saw for her the varana 441 millet in 65mm, or the silx implosion in 67mm. I saw that on your site, you advise against these seconds for beginners, why? (I saw on other sites that they were indicated for beginners...)

Could you enlighten me, or even suggest others, because I don't juggle!

    Thank you in advance.

      Varana 441 Balls and Children

The Varana 441 are perfect for use with children. With a diameter of 65mm, it's small enough to fit small children's hands, but also for beginner teens and adults.

Recommend the Varana 441 to beginners

It is true that I tend to advise against silx for beginners. Perhaps wrongly, it is not necessarily everyone's opinion... But I find that they are too light and therefore less stable than balls with a millet filling like the Varana 441. A heavier ball will be more stable in the air. And for learning I find that it is important to have this stability in addition. For someone who already has a good level with a stable 4 and 5 balls, then the Silx will have advantages over the Varana 441 balls. Lowering the center of gravity and for juggling more than 5 balls, this lightness will allow you to get less tired... It's silly but a few mm less on the Varana 441 ball will also have an impact for a child (facilitate the grip)!

If you have any questions or would like to discuss this in more detail, please do not hesitate to give us a call at 05 55 56 25 79.

      Re: Model selection

Thank you very much for your reply.

So it will be the varana!

On the other hand, I see that the turquoise ones are out of stock, and that's his favorite color... Do you know if you'll have some available again soon?

      One last question:

I would also like to get a devil's stick, she had a big crush on it this summer.

I have chosen 3 models: The Power Flowerstick, the Elements or the Picasso.

Are there one or two models that would stand out? Or will all three be equivalent for her?

Afterwards, I will let her choose from your selection as far as aesthetics are concerned...

      Thank you in advance.

The turquoise ones are no longer out of stock! We had a shipment :-) For a beginner, the three devil sticks you've spotted are excellent. You can choose based on the colors you like best. The one with the best finishes and the best juggling comfort is undoubtedly the Elements. Don't hesitate to give us a call if you'd like more information.

    Cool !

    These balls are really great!

I'm a beginner, they arrived in 24 hours and the first impression when I touch them is "wow"

They are very pleasant in the hand, I thought they would be lighter, but that is not a negative aspect at all.

I felt like I had a stress ball in my hands haha. Filling it with millet seeds is a great idea!

I wanted to know if the balls lose their grip over time? (Does the surface still "stick" after a few hours of use?)

    08/09/2016
    • Answer
      Re: Cool!

The balls will lose their grip slightly over time. If you practice in a dusty environment, they will quickly lose it. They will regain it when you wash them.

Most jugglers appreciate the grip of the ball, it allows for a good grip. If, on the other hand, like me, you are less fond of this grippy aspect, you can consider very gently wiping them with a cloth soaked in acetone. This will give them a matte finish (less shiny) and in the process it will remove a good part of the grip of your balls.

Be careful not to use too much acetone and handle this product with care, it is a very "dirty" product.
