Situated on a high point near the Chemin des Dames, between Reims, Laon and Soissons, the Fort de Condé offers a majestic and historic setting to host the Forticircus 2023 event. Built between 1877 and 1882, this fort covers an area of 13 hectares and was designed to accommodate 658 men, including 20 infantry, foot artillery and engineering officers.
During the First World War, Fort de Condé was primarily used by the Germans. Decommissioned twice, in 1912 and 1927, the site gradually became overgrown and fell into disrepair. It was thanks to the fort's preservation association, Mrs. and Mr. Pottier, and the commune of Chivres-Val, that it was revived in 1979.
In 2000, the Communauté de communes du Val de l'Aisne committed to the preservation of the fort, which was included in the Supplementary Inventory of Historic Monuments in 2001. Today, the Fort de Condé is a privileged place to host cultural and artistic events , such as Forticircus 2023.
This year, it is in this historic setting that circus and street arts will be celebrated , offering spectators a unique experience, combining entertainment, wonder and discovery of heritage . The Fort de Condé, with its rich history and vast spaces, is the ideal place to bring the magic of the circus to life and delight visitors of all ages during this exceptional day.
